Louis Meulstee has great interest in Royal Signals and is a
very regular visitor to the Royal Signals Museum library at Blandford. He
has already written over 150 articles on the history of military radio communication and is the author of the hugely popular "Wireless for the Warrior" series.
Louis has his own website, primarily dealing with technical information on vintage British Army radio equipment, containing many good pictures, with a section on LARKSPUR radios and increasing in detail and content including the new "Wireless for the Warrior Compendium 1 'Spark to Larkspur' (Wireless Sets 1910-1948)" and full details of how to order.
This fascinating website is also entitled
Wireless for the Warrior
and a visit is almost mandatory for anyone who professes a real interest in British Military equipment throughout its range.
Louis, who holds the call sign PAØPCR, was elected to be an Associate Member (Number 3663) of the The Royal Signals Amateur Society at the Council Meeting held at Blandford Camp prior to the AGM on 26th June 1999 for his outstanding affiliation to us. Those wishing to contact Louis may do so by e-mail.
The Paraset Club
"The “Paraset” is a compact, portable, extremely simple yet rugged radio transmitter and receiver developed by UK scientists and engineers, some of whom were radio amateurs, at the Government research establishment at Whaddon, Cambridgeshire in the early stages of the Second World War. The set is known as the Whaddon MkVII and was used for clandestine radio communication primarily in Norway and Europe.
The equipment is known as the “Paraset” because it was dropped by parachute either with, or to agents operating in the field.
The Paraset Club was founded by Adrian, G4GDR and Tom, G3EFY (RSARS 539) in 2006 and comprises a small group of radio amateurs committed to the following Aims:
The website of GØCJX - John, RSARS 2236 is now visible on the Internet.
Following the birth of VK6SIG (F065) many years ago and the Western Australian Chapter of RSARS the commendable dedicated Web site featured news and views, and the VK6SIG log and several innovations, it was available for your inspection and comments. This Site in the capable hands of Alan, VK6PG and grew from strength to strength. It is with regret therefore that in September 2006 we learned that at a meeting of the small RSARS Group in Western Australia, it was decided to relinquish the callsign of VK6SIG F056. Reasons are, low activity, funding issues, nil demand, declining numbers of members in the VK/ZL area, poor QSL returns and general lack of support for the Group callsign.
The VK6SIG website is retained under a new name and has been relocated to:-
http://users.tpg.com.au/users/vk6pg/.
GM4XRF is the latest of our Members to launch himself onto the Web with his own site. He is 58 years old and lives in Forfar, which is the county town of Angus - from there not only can he indulge in much fly fishing but amateur radio and other hobbies in spite of a recent accident necessitating a new hip! Great things can be expected from this venture.
VA3TRM Terry Murphy, a former Army Sergeant-Major is another RSARS Member (3858) with a notable website. He is also heard as VE3RCS and VA3SIG - you can also email him on va3trm@sympatico.ca to keep in touch.
With much to present relative to RAYNET, RADIO MOBILE (This program, by Roger Coudé, VE2DBE enables maps to be drawn of specified areas, elevation contours and roads to be added, then Units can be placed where required. Individual Unit performances can be specified for power, sensitivity, antenna parameters etc. and individual Links examined for path profile and signal parameters. Coverage patterns can be produced for individual stations if required), and the MORSE TRAINING programs by G4FON (using the Koch method of training: when all characters are enabled, QRM, QRN and QSB can be superimposed on the audio signal which can be sent at a selected speed. Text files can be replayed with prosigns and also random words) RSARS member 1504 - Ian D. Brown, G3TVU has such an excellent website at http://www.g3tvu.co.uk that we guarantee you will be drawn back again frequently and also follow his most useful links to the matters mentioned above.
The North Norfolk Amateur Radio Group is affiliated to RSARS and is to be found at the Muckleburgh Collection (see Museums page), Weybourne, Norfolk. THE SCARBOROUGH SPECIAL EVENTS GROUP are a group of like-minded radio amateurs with an interest in using our hobby to enhance the reputation of the hobby and the Scarborough area. As a general rule all events are based in the Borough of Scarborough, but can, where there is an association with Scarborough, extend slightly over the boundaries. They have also used our call from both Scotland and Wales (GSØOOO & GCØOOO). The membership includes much RSARS connection and shows their Special Event QSLs in detail from which much information as to past events can be obtained.

ROYAL ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION - RADIO BRANCH - G3RE RSARS Aff57. The branch welcomes serving sappers of the UK Regular and Territorial Army. Also former members of the Corps of Royal Engineers who served as professional radio operators, or who have an interest in radio communications.
If VHF/UHF is your great interest then you're certainly in for a lift if you go to the Home Page of Philip GØISW with its attendant wealth of "facilities" and information relative to the subject.
Figuring large in matters of MAXPAK (the UK Midlands Packet User Group) (they are listed on our "The Amateur Radio Scene (Others)" page) is Joe G4VYA who has launched his own web site as well.
Jim GMØHZM has launched his own Home Pages on the Internet and yes, the site covers his trips to Western Canada, the Berlin Wall, the Norwegian Fjiords as well as his considerable experiences with the Territorial Army and his involvement in choral singing. Not forgetting of course, Amateur Radio! We are certain you will much enjoy visiting and sharing with him.
Welcome to the Beverley Boys Archive - from his time there (1953-55) Brian, GØVNU has happy memories. This web site is an archive dedicated to those young "boys” aged between fourteen and seventeen and a half years, who enlisted into the British Army and served as Regimental Boy Soldiers in the Royal Corps of Signals.
One of our Members with his own Web Page is Bob Copeland, G4PDF. Not entirely Amateur Radio - which gives us a chance to see Members' "other interests" but the radio coverage is nonetheless excellent. Bob has the unenviable self-inflicted task of creating pages devoted to SOE and its activities: any help from Members and others would be most welcome and he is of course on e-mail as - rvcopeland@iee.org.uk -
A new venture for Frank, and details and pictures of his adventures - visit the developing pages of Frank Corser, RSARS 3652 of Brighton, Ontario.
"In 1969 Kit, GM4EMX transferred to the Royal Corps Signals, and later whilst serving in Germany at RAF Gütersloh with 21 Signal Regt (AS), obtained the callsign DA2WN. Whilst in Germany he held the club calls DA2YV at RAF Gütersloh (1976-77) and DA2CL at 14 Signal Regt (EW) (1979-82). His own United Kingdom callsign G4EMX was obtained in 1974. He returned to the UK for a short three year spell at 8 Signal Regt (Training)and whilst there was honoured by the RSARS to be their HQ Station (G4RS) Manager (1978 - 79). Whilst at 8 Signal Regt, Kit was able to get involved with Trade Training of certain technical and operating trades (with the help of G3EKL, now the Vice-President of RSARS). The subject "Electronics as a Hobby", was a presentation on Amateur Radio with questions and answers, followed by a visit to G4RS for the Trainees." To read more of his story and see his pictures, visit his Site.
Take a look at the business interests of our Member Roley Brade, G3VIR in the shape of VENUS ELECTRONICS for amateur radio programs, hardware and supplies for the PC including the British made interface built into a 25-way EMC/RFI-proof "D" Connector for SSTV - FAX - RTTY - CW - AMTOR to name but a few.
Stewart McClean, GIØPFL is most knowledgeable about Lt.Col. R. B. MAYNE, DSO who was the CO of The Special Raiding Squadron and the 1st Special Air Service (SAS). This heroic Officer's story, pictures, medals etc. are all thoroughly covered on these specially devoted pages.
"The multi-page overflowing Home Pages abound on the Internet, and as "Tall oaks from little acorns grow" you should perhaps keep an eye on GØUZH's HOME PAGE."- So we said moons ago in introducing Stephen's first attempts: now he and his wife Kay, GØVDW, (both members of the Mid-Norfolk RAYNET Group and of the Nar Valley Volunteers) are illustrating the pages with shots of their meritorious work and activities. As we knew it would - the tree grows!
Keith Marriott - G6NHY (RSARS 3831) has his website under development with emphasis at the moment on his Weather Station data.
Not a home page but an entire domain - WINFORCE - is the developing site of our Editor and WebMaster G3NVK. Development of this large plan is under way and already carries a complete mirror of the RSARS HOME PAGES as an easy safety-precaution. The fundamental objects are INFORMATION and WEB PAGE HOSTING. The facility also has e-mail List Server and other items as a stand-by in case of need. Some development is going on "behind the curtain" and will be brought into the public view shortly. Inevitably there are links to the Law of the Land so to speak - perhaps the most interesting one being the "Specialist Guidance" button which takes you to (inter alia) a source of legal humour and to the contents of the Wills of the famous, including Elvis Presley and Diana the Princess of Wales, and there is also much free legal advice at that destination and others covered by the links. Murder is the subject of an article by G3NVK and includes a copy of an actual Brief for the Prosecution relative to such an event in Melton Mowbray. The domain now includes the ONLINE SHACK OF G3NVKwhich includes an illustrated 60+ year history of Amateur Radio in his home town and a full copy of an original 1938 "Artificial Aerial" Licence (of particular interest to historians) issued to 2FUM (now G2FUM).
Dick's "other arm" is deeply into agriculture, rural heritage, farming, equestrianism, fox hunting and so on in his Rural Aspect pages centred on his home town of Melton Mowbray.
