SOUTH WEST AREA RALLIES REPRESENTATION
I attended the Exeter Radio Rally on 1st March, held in the America Hall, Pinhoe, Exeter. This is a small event, but as it is the first local Rally of the year, it should be well worth attending, after people have come out of the Christmas Doldrums. Unfortunately attendance was down on last year, but still better than the year before. I know a fair few of the people, and they all have to count their money carefully. Saying that the Traders felt that they had a reasonably good day, given the circumstances. I had a few RSARS visitors who signed in, including a new Member who bought some small embellishments. I had a good chat with him and passed him on to appropriate traders who I felt could help him round his aerial difficulties. Apart from him, though, business was slack, but I don't think that the Economic Tsunami that has affected us all made that much of a difference. There are not many Members, or prospective Members, in the Exeter area, but I am after an ex-Sapper who is convinced that he is not going to join. His excuse is that he is not ex-Royal Signals. No excuse, as we all know. It was a good introduction to the Rally season, and hopefully a few pockets will have been unstitched ready for the Callington Club event, which seems to have been well-advertised. It is also that much nearer to the Cornish Group.
