Andy (G8JAC) and Les (M3IBN) have a closer look at that peculiar radio. |
What on earth is that Radio on the Stand? No one came up with any real answers but it is thought to be perhaps a workshops prototype of the SR 19(FM) for vehicle supression testing. Mike (M1CCF) is under there just, but it does show a good view of the first stand run by him for the Southern Area.

Remembrance Sunday 12th November 2006 was to be remembered in more ways than one.Kempton Park Racecourse TW16 5AQ is the venue for a twice-a-year Amateur Radio Rally and RSARS had its Stand there once again. Mike (M1CCF), Peter (MØDDY) and Les (M3IBN) - a new member - were on hand to attend to the needs of members and with 20 signing in business was brisk. Kempton is a good venue (April and November) with much to see, no computer junk and everything radio related including the new ventures into LED lights and surveillance cameras. If you were after green radio things there was an excellent selection. The customary two minutes silence enabled listening to the BBC broadcast from Whitehall and, (led in our case by a single member from each Service, including our Peter (MØDDY) who represented both Royal Signals and the Army) the opportunity for all at Kempton to take part in the national Act of Remembrance. As the newly-appointed Rally Representative for the area I would like to thank all who helped and to say how we appreciated those who came and said, thank you for being there - oh, and it was nice to see that Society Stores availability provided the necessary service. If any member in or near Croydon, or travelling to London requires any item from the RSARS Stores and would like to save the postage, then do give me a ring and you can collect direct from me. I think I have something of most items normally listed - including just that Christmas present you always wanted. Caps, Polo Shirts, Badges and much more, but, NO the 19-Set is not for sale, it's display only! We are already planning to be at Kempton again next April, (see RALLY CALENDAR) so if you can help YOUR SOCIETY, or would like me to come to YOUR RALLY, than give me a call and we will see if I can be there. The next Rally that I know of at the moment is The RA Firepower Museum in Woolwich SE London on 17th and 18th February and again on 3rd and 4th March 2007, the latter date is the special vintage radio weekend. Details on website www.firepowerradiorally.zoomshare.com As I am honoured to be the first Rally Reporter in this new series invented by our Webmaster I'd like to urge other Rally Representatives to present their illustrated reports to him immediately following any such event - it saves time waiting for the next issue of "MERCURY" - and furthermore the pictures are in colour!
