LATEST NEWS and CHANGES

Starting Wednesday 25th November 2009

Time: 1400Z

Alan G4BXQ has decided, until conditions improve, to run his long-standing Tuesday evening Net on Wednesday afternoons.

QRG: 3.743MHz probably higher - RAIBC and RNARS conduct their nets around this frequency and the last thing we wish to do is interfere with established nets.
So in the words of the late G3EKL, “Search boldly” and I would suggest towards 3.746MHz and higher until we are settled.
Net closure will, from experience of late, be dictated by the sudden change in band conditions where Continental QRM appears and inter-G exchanges become difficult, which is between 1530Z and 1600Z.
So there you go: we have lost nets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at present so until conditions change we will have nets on 80m – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. All are welcome.

Nets on 40m and 160m and of course Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, continue as normal.

Starting Thursday 26th November 2009

Time: 1800Z

I will see what conditions are like at 1800Z - if not good I will run my net on FRIDAY afternoon at 1400Z until about 1530Z on 3.744MHz. Will try for a few weeks and see how it works out.

Starting Wednesday 16th December 2009

Time: 1800Z

I would like to announce a little change to the way the TOP BAND (160m) Net is run. As you all know the Top Band Net is normally run from 20:30Z, this will continue as normal, however I will also run an earlier Net at 18:00Z - of course the frequency remains the same 1.946MHz.
This additional Net is to try and facilitate those members who like to retire early and find the Net at 20:30Z too late in which to participate. So the 18:00Z Net is to be scheduled from Wednesday 16th December for 10 weeks, although this is a provisional net, its continuance depends on the support it receives, so give it a try and please give us a call on Top Band.
Best regards

Starting Tuesday 23rd February 2010

Owing to positive reports on propagation changes being received from Barry G3YEU, our Propagation Guru, via MØOIC, both Alan G4BXQ and Keith G6NHY are now attempting to conduct their Nets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in accordance with the schedules of RSARS NETS AND ACTIVITIES. These are updated and published in each issue of "MERCURY" and are available on this website in Shack Aid and elsewhere. Successful Nets were held on both Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th February with a good number of members joining both Nets from 1800hrs. It is planned that these evening 80m Nets will continue in the hope that conditions continue to improve. However, if the evening Nets again become untenable both Alan and Keith will revert to the following day in the afternoon as per the situation of the last few weeks.
