BREDHURST RECEIVING AND TRANSMITTING SOCIETY (BRATS) RALLY
Rainham Girls School, Derwent Way, Rainham, Kent

For the second year running we attended the Radio Rally held by BRATS in Rainham Kent, just off the A2, and badly signposted as usual. Never mind people did find the School, although it is becoming clear that the availability of funds is becoming an issue. 6am arrived on a lovely clear day, so we hit the road, with a non-Society member with no service background, as passenger and helper - Where are all the RSARS members in this not so remote corner of the SE? By the time we arrived many stall holders had unpacked and a bit of inter-table trading was already under way from the keener members of society. (Now I have done the rallies for a while I have begun to understand who comes for what - one trader specifically purchases a table to get in early with no real expectation of selling anything, while another sweeps up all he can and then doubles the price for his own sales - one item went from £8 to £27, but did not sell a second time, wonder why?)
However back to RSARS, great to chat to the members who signed in, and also to have a promise of help next year from a local member who did not even know we were going to be there! Thank you to two more who paid their subs, although, somehow, they did not seem to want my special offer of a £5 teddy in exchange for their signature!
The Rally hasen't changed much from last year, although as said earlier only the cheapest bargains sold - money seems short this year. The canteen offered "The dish of the Day" but it seemed this was not quite the way I understood it, and I had a very nice bacon roll served to me instead (Instead of a black eye, that is!).
Yes good show all in all - come next year, but for now see you all at Kempton Park in April. Oh! I got my bargain, some 19-Set style Pye aerial sockets for restoration purposes.
Happy hunting
