SOUTHERN AREA RALLIES REPRESENTATION
It promised to be a great day, the mist was everywhere and out of this were appearing strange battle-like figures and vehicles. And there it was! The RSARS Stand again - in unfamiliar surroundings!

It was not until Carol Spicer arrived from Brighton that the mist and low cloud really disappeared, close to midday, and by which time the field had gradually filled up with vehicles and vintage military equipment of various sorts.

Radios may have been the theme, but just as much interest was shown in the 6pdr gun (1940's vintage) towed-in by an American Duce-and-a-half and the really vintage Dormobile from the 1960's, both in excellent condition of course. A Ferret, a Dingo and a genuine Bedford MWR all joined in the fun and were suitably crawled over by all those on site.

It should really have been christened the 19-Set Camp, as nearly every visitor had one, mostly working or near to working. We operated successfully on the RSARS and VMARS Nets on both Saturday and Sunday, taking the VMARS control station with the C13 and/or C11 stations: 1960's kit at its best, working in the environment it was designed for. In reality the pictures say it all, and on Saturday evening we had a BBQ and Bonfire, as well as donating £30 to the Gurkha Benevolent Fund.

See you at Kempton Park on 4th November? Why not come and offer to help with the Stand - don't just stand and stare…..!
