I am aware that not all members have subscribed to the RSARS Email List Server so with thanks to our webmaster I am able to notify members via this means that the QSL Bureau is now fully operational at its new location.
I wish to go on record as offering my grateful thanks to Chris G2ABR and his lovely wife Lin who drove from Harwich to Reading to Chilwell thus ensuring that the Bureau (never seen by me until its arrival) was collected and updated - and then instructing me in its installation here. Without doubt it would have been very difficult without their very kind assistance.
So, the Bureau is now 100% up-to-date, a full audit has been carried out and I am ready for the receipt of your hard-earned QSL cards. A few lucky members who were at full envelope level will hear the sound of a card-filled envelope soon after the Easter break and of course this will be ongoing.
I have sent emails to members shown on record as "having cards but no stamps" with a request that stamps be sent to the Bureau for their onward transmission, or, if they do not wish to use the Bureau, to advise me accordingly. If you are one of those members, or one that I could not contact owing to the non-availability of an email address, please take note.
235 cards in total were input to the Bureau once it had been checked and updated. These comprised cards already received at Chilwell, those collected by Chris from Reading, and quite a number that were/are still being received at the QTH of Chris G2ABR. The change in Bureau location has been notified to members via email (RSARS Email List Server), by Net Controllers on air and will be covered in the next edition of "MERCURY", due any day now, which brings me to my main reason for this newsletter:-
Please pass the word that the Bureau is now located at the address shown above and on the QSL BUREAU PAGE of this website so that we can quickly remove the burden of cards being redirected from the QTH of Peter G3YOB (SK). Irene Dowdall has labels for the redirection of your cards but I am sure that we would all prefer that she is relieved of this task as soon as possible. Please when exchanging details make mention of the Bureau change.
My wish is that I continue the excellent tradition and service of QSL Bureau Managers of the past and as well the pleasure of being one of the Society's Net Controllers - all I ask is that you let me know if you have a problem with the Bureau in anyway.
Finally a thought for Peter G3YOB (SK) who did such an excellent job as Bureau Manager before me for such short time prior to his sudden departure from us. I had never met him personally but having spoken to him on radio and telephone I am certain he will be missed by many.
