With Christmas turkey consumed, and again, and again, it is hoped that all had a very enjoyable time with friends and/or family and are looking forward positively to 2008. May Linda and I take the opportunity to wish you all well and everything good for the year ahead especially with reference to band conditions. I cannot see much improved Bureau activity for a while as new members are not joining Nets and old friends, also absent from Nets, are no doubt waiting until conditions improve. I keep reading that we are just about at the bottom of the trough and can only hope that we will climb out of it quickly. No, not wishing my life away just wishing for better conditions. Sam D4/G4OHX has really had problems trying to obtain his licence for Cape Verde, which he did literally by email just prior to his departure. This struggle continued with him being unable to operate from his hotel. Sam being Sam he hired a vehicle taking Grace on a mystery tour around the island - Island Sal - as he looked for trees. He did find one and I will leave it to Sam to explain this part of his adventure. A bit of a struggle but he did make contact with a few members and will hopefully work a few more before he returns. The Pop-In-Pop-Out Net hopefully will have been a great success and with luck have enabled a few exchanges to take place. Frank G3DVL will be coordinating reports received from the Net Controllers and I look forward to reporting on members meeting each other for the first time which - I say with some optimism - will produce a few cards. Bureau activity To the statistics which you may, or may not, find to be of interest? As it is end of year I have produced charts which show the sad state of affairs created, and ongoing, as we drop towards the bottom of the sunspot cycle:-
Take care and Good Hunting, and especially good health for 2008. 73, Bryan MØOIC RSARS 3867 Assisted by
