By the time you are reading this newsletter the RSARS May Anniversary Activity will have started and I wonder how many of us will have worked Bill GM3KHH already? It is hoped that the revised Rules will encourage more Overseas activity and it was great to get confirmation as I was typing that Mal VK6LC had rejoined the Society. I (and GØCPO/A) did manage to work him on 20m in last year's May Activity and I look forward to doing so again this year - yes indeed - I wish. Band conditions for reasonable propagation during April on 40m have been between for me poor and non-existent. To their credit David GM4FOZ and Sam G4OHX soldier on, often with the assistance of John EI5JN, trying to encourage members to join their Nets, ever hoping for an opening where inter-G working is again the norm as against the exception. As expected the appearances of GØRCS and G4CCF have had a small but positive affect on Bureau traffic and recent new/rejoining members M3IBN, G4PTZ, M1ETC and 2EØRCS have done their bit in swelling the numbers of cards coming into the Bureau. David M3NZR during his Cyprus breaks and spare time has concentrated his efforts in learning Morse code and CW operating. To his credit I am now seeing cards confirming successful CW QSO's with members. Well done David for your perseverance and if you have not yet got him in your log he calls regularly around 3.565MHz. Bureau Activity
Cards received in comparison with previous years is well down but when one listens to band conditions are we really surprised? When was the last time we worked an RSARS overseas member? Apart from Nick G3RWF and Sam G4OHX travelling thye world we rarely if ever hear our friends form NA, VK, ZL, DU, CT etc. We do regularly hear Les EA5AVL - get well soon Les and of course Gerry DL/G4IHS/P - I hope you and Bert G3XSN are enjoying painting Liverpool red hi!
