Issue No. 27 - 1st June 2009
In my Newsletter No. 26 of 1st May I said I was hoping to give a positive report on activity brought about by the May Anniversary Activity. Sadly whilst the number of cards received is up on last year, and last month, they are not all for members meeting for the first time, many being courtesy cards.

I have taken part in the celebratory month's activity which, being totally honest, I do enjoy, but I am sure that readers, if any, will agree that conditions have made it difficult. Overseas Members worked by me number but three, and two of those, on separate days, were with Don in Pafos, 5B4AGQ and C4SIG, which was as always my pleasure having served there with family for two years. As to bands being open, thank goodness we have 80m where I think the vast majority of exchanges would have taken place.
I will not list future events being run by Mike M1CCF, Dennis GW4XKE, Jack G3PWK and Spike G4AKQ as these are all well covered on our website in the
Special Events and Activity page. We also have Nick G3RWF working from Cyprus in September so a few new ones up for grabs during the year although Nick has been 5B/G3RWF previously. Talking about new ones - it was a pleasure to hear Gary M3TGC Member 4101 joining a Net on the same day his membership was confirmed and I already have six cards for him in the Bureau (including one from MØOIC) - well done Gary.
Again no special cards to scan and display this month so I would appreciate any interesting cards that you may have used in the past with RSARS activity to be displayed in a future Newsletter. Any story or stories attached to these cards would, I am sure, be of interest to other Members.
A reminder that the lists of Members using the Bureau as at 1st June are available to check 24/7 on the Society website
E-Library, as is the Membership List.
As previously mentioned as far as I am concerned this Newsletter is for RSARS Members; if you wish to say anything at all about Bureau matters please let me know and it will be published. Controversial - not a problem for it will no doubt generate some discussion among readers.
Personal Service for NSMR?
A wonderful sunny day surrounded by vintage vehicles which made even the Bureau Manager feel at home. Location - Wollaton Park, Nottingham at the
Autokarna and
Nottingham Evening Post Motor Show 2009 where Linda 2E1SIS/3900 and yours truly met up with Ian G8OFZ/1370 and Vera who was celebrating her 80th birthday surrounded by cousins from the same era. Not just a display of Austin 7s but other cars, buses, motorcycles, even bicycles were in evidence. Not all veteran or vintage as can be seen from the engine compartment of one of our latest power cars - I couldn't even see a dipstick?
A few images showing Vera, and friends, plus a couple of others hopefully just to brighten up this Newsletter and of course the important one of Linda handing over hard-earned QSL cards to Ian

It was nice to meet up with Ian (and Vera of course) and it is hoped that when judging took place Vera's maturity and birth date were acknowledged.
