Bureau activity
As I expected, the month of November has been very quiet as far as Bureau activity is concerned with only 159 cards received and 200 sent out leaving the Bureau even emptier than usual. Maybe not a good thing, and looking back, at previous figures for the same month in 2006 we see a very exciting month with receipts at 939 and despatches a phenomenal 1,303! Wondering why this should be I looked at my own logbook for the months of August, September and October 2006 which may have had an effect on numbers of cards being moved and find that I worked 21 new members which of course included some of our members holidaying in France, Spain and the African continent (in various countries) yet over the same months in 2007 I have worked but 9 new ones (excluding same members in new modes) - so this year is definitely a bit bleak as far as I am concerned and no doubt many others.
Many thanks to all those members sending cards and stamps, and again, especially to those showing the membership number of the station worked which does help. Once more a reminder that 5 second-class stamps normally allow the Bureau to retain 1 for envelopes etc. and 4 for future use.
Another reminder (which often generates work for the Bureau) for the POPI (Pop-In-Pop-Out) Net which will be running 31st December from 1200hrs as usual; please call in and say hello. Not sure which shift Alan G4BXQ has me earmarked for but you will be made most welcome by all of us course whether you just pop-in and pop-out or stay longer.
To the statistics - which, as always, you may, or may not, find to be of interest?
