SSB Sundays, Highlands and Islands (Scotland)
SSB Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
Tuesday through Friday Meeting Place for USA Members
1st and 3rd Thursday of the month - FM
SSB Nets take place on Tuesdays at 1400 UK local time steered by Bryan (MØOIC) and at 1800 UK local time with Alan (G4BXQ) controlling. On Thursday we find the afternoon stint (again at 1400) led by Peter (GØRGB) and at 1800 UK local time once again run by Alan (G4BXQ).
3.743 MHz (and 7.070 and 7170 MHz)
Taking place on each Sunday from 30 November 1986 (originally on 80m but from the Spring of 2001 it moved to 40m until the Spring of 2006 when we started the Net on 40m but so often found it untenable that we migrated to 80m again) the CHATTERBOX Net runs from 1100 to Noon local time if possible and is controlled by Dick (G3NVK) aided by stalwart deputy Dennis (GW4XKE).
The Net is for the exchange of Society and membership news and information and general membership discussion: this Net is NOT used for RSARS Award purposes but if a rare station does come up "the Rules" can be relaxed as an exception, the main Net closed, and the frequency left for contacts with that station to benefit the Awards Scheme.
We currently trial 7070 and 7.170 between 10:30 and 11:00 clock time and if conditions permit we continue, but if propagation is so bad (and it has been now for a very long time) then the Pre-Chatterbox Net (conducted by GW4XKE) takes place on 3.743 MHz until 11:00 when CHATTERBOX proper under the baton of G3NVK begins and goes on until Noon.
Our 1000th Net was held on 16th September 2007.
The weekly HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS Net also from 1100 UK local time each Sunday was controlled by Ken (GM3WKM) until 9th March 2003 when increasing ill-health forced him reluctantly to give up. This Net focuses activity from the more remote parts of the UK. A volunteer was therefore required but in the meantime Kit (GM4EMX) trialed a Scottish Sunday Brunch Net at the same time and place. Then Dave (GM4FOZ) kindly stepped into the breach and has now taken over as official Net Controller.
A twice weekly CW opportunity.
The first takes place on a Wednesday evening
2000 local (UK). The position of Control Station is currently vacant and a volunteer is needed.
The second helping of CW takes place every Sunday morning from 1000 local (UK) time with preference given to those Members who are newer to CW. This Net was controlled by Selwyn (G3JRY) for many years until mid-May 2003 when, due to lack of support, he relinquished his post but interested parties may care to gather there on the off-chance of effecting a contact with like-minded souls.
High Speed CW Net. This Net takes place on Friday from 1830 local (UK) time, and anyone joining should expect speeds in of a minimum of 18-20 wpm. Members are invited to join in this activity if they can, or just take a listen to brush up their speed.
RTTY Net. takes place on Monday evening from 1800 local UK time and is controlled by Arthur, G1KRU. Conditions vary on this Net but generally speaking this is the best time to catch up with other members interested in RTTY.
PSK Net. Once a week on Friday at 1800 UK local time - purely a chat net and controlled by Bill GM3KHH - the Net lasts for about an hour depending upon participants' wishes and activity as a drop-in/drop-out Net.
Almost daily SSB MORNING Nets which take place starting at 1000 UK local time - on Monday the Net Controller position is GM4FOZ to kick-off the week and this is followed on Tuesday under the baton of G4OHX then Thursday and Friday (same time, same place) with GM4FOZ again at the helm.
The weekly SSB 40m AFTERNOON Net controlled by MØOIC on Tuesdays at 1400 UK local time was suffering badly due to prevailing conditions Winter 2007/Spring 2008 so at that time the Net (and the Thursday afternoon one) moved to 3.743MHz +/- QRM - for details now see under 80m - the Net Controller continues to be MØOIC.
The weekly SSB 40m AFTERNOON Net which took place on Thursdays at 1400 UK local time was suffering badly due to prevailing conditions Winter 2007/Spring 2008 so at that time the Net (as in the case of the Tuesday afternoon one) moved to 3.743MHz +/- QRM and GØRGB picked up the reins.

Our 1000th Net was held on 16th September 2007.
Between 14.055 and 14.055.5 MHz.
Weekly Overseas CW Net. This Net is every Friday evening from 2000 GMT and attracts those well versed in the art of Morse from all parts. Previous attempts on 14.040 did not work out so well as expected.
Weekly SSB Net into VK/ZL on Saturdays. Control of this Net is usually taken by VK4BFO.
This is the meeting place at 1600 GMT for USA members on Tuesdays through Fridays. There is no current Control Station
This twice-weekly SSB Natter Net (Wednesday and Saturday)finds the numbers are gaining in strength and the Net itself in popularity as conditions continue to improve. Look from 0600Z onwards and be prepared to take control to assist VK4BFO (who regularly controls on Saturday) if you are the better placed station having regard to band conditions and occupancy.
Weekly Activity on FM (Wednesday) - Combined Services Activity where lots of new members can be found. Bill (G4MQN) was i/c until his unexpected death early in December 2000. Until we have an official Net Controller the participants will continue their activities in normal Services orderly fashion from 2000 local UK time on Wednesdays.
Twice monthly activity - on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month. Combined Services Net controlled by G4PSH/GØMQU from 1930 local UK time
144.610 MHz.
RTTY Activity. There is no Net as such for the 2 metre RTTY Activity, so if you are interested in this mode please put out a call from 2000 UK local time on 144.610 for any other RSARS stations. Members who only have FM mode should put out a call on 145.300 MHz at the same times.
SSB Activity. Activity in the Merseyside area every Sunday evening from 1900 local time. Brian (G7CCP) is trying to get some 70 cms activity going in the area so any members who can get on at that time please try and contact Brian.
VK and ZL members please make a note that 3.615 is where you will find the weekly net for VK/ZL members. It takes place every Wednesday at 1030 GMT. It is hoped that this note will make more of the Down Under members aware of this possible activity.
We have allocated frequencies for members use on Top Band. 1.835 CW, 1.840 RTTY, 1840.150 PSK31 and 1.952 SSB so it pays to take a look from time to time.
