G3SIG MOVEMENTS ORDER

To claim THE RSARS G3SIG AWARD necessitates working the station in each of 6 call areas of Great Britain. Successful contacts will automatically generate cards from G3SIG. Members' cards for contact with G3SIG are not required.

Claims are arriving regularly at the G3SIG Award Manager for processing with a view to the issue of the Certificate shown below to successful member claimants:-

  • June 2003 - The efforts from GD hooked a further 4 contacts this month.
  • August 2003 - Operations from England gained the station a further 4 contacts this month.
  • September 2003 - The score was increased by another 3 thanks to G4KKI.
  • October 2003 - A good month by comparison with England donating another 8 points to Certificate hunters.......
  • November 2003 - GI3SIG produced 12 further contacts during the month
  • December - and by the end of 2003 a further 8 had been gathered in which with....
  • ......4 for Jan 04 increased the score...
  • and a brilliant 118 from G3RWF whilst in GU, and 10 more when the station was "at home" brings gives us........
  • The details for GD3SIG operations in March have not been made available.
  • A spring in the step of GW3KJW brought 55 new contacts into the log during April 2004
  • Scotland in the form of GM3SIG attracted some 16 new contacts during the Merry Month of May to bring the total up a little further.
  • No figures available for the Welsh activity in June.
  • Scotland again in the form of GM3SIG collected a High Summer harvest of almost one a day bringing the total successfully up again.
  • August saw (and heard) GD3SIG bring in 18 new Members including 3 who have now worked the full set, so more Awards on the way when claims have been submitted and processed - very encouraging.
  • Autumn has come and with it another 30 contacts including those with 3 Members who have completed their required set and can claim their coveted Award - station kindly operated by GI4JTF throughout September.
  • "Thanks to a splendid effort by Bill, GM3KHH, 111 GM3SIG contacts were made during October" reports G4OHX the G3SIG Award Manager and he adds that all outgoing QSL cards to date have been despatched.
  • No dark or fog-bound days in November for the operator (MØOIC) - G4OHX the G3SIG Award Manager reports "With Bryan at the helm we had 24 QSOs of which 20 were new ones for G3SIG".
  • At this the nadir of the year but 10 contacts were made and all thanks to GI3SIG for making them. A renewed effort all round for the New Year 2005 is on the cards.
  • January's GW3SIG brought forth 12 contacts, 11 being new, to herald 2005.
  • February heard 9 RSARS member-contacts of which 5 were new ones for "SIGGY".
  • During March GD3SIG was activated by GD4ZZN and he sprung into action and achieved 20 contacts with Members which included 2 of them completing their sets to earn the coveted Certificate!
  • The peripatetic activities this month (April) secured a further 34 new contacts whilst the station was in the good hands of Nick (G3RWF) down there as GU3SIG - score 34 - and back home with the Manager (Sam, G4OHX) making a further 10.
  • The stint by Andy, G8JAC operating as GJ3SIG albeit for 3-days only mid-May, produced a further 45 contacts including one clincher for a claimant.
  • June came and with it David, GI3KVD running the call and making 11 new contacts of which 2 were for completion of the set.
  • The activity in July produced 10 further contacts, 7 of which were new ones, the prevailing poor conditions inhibit anything better in spite of gallant efforts by the monthly operators.
  • During August, GW3SIG which was run by Ray, GW4PUC, made 14 contacts of which 12 were new ones and a further 3 completed the set!
  • For GI3SIG in September, Harry GI4JTF made 13 QSOs which included 10 new ones and one Member completed his set.....
  • For GI3SIG in October the band conditions were no better than for anyone else, resulting in only an increase in the number of contacts by 4 (two of whom were new ones).
  • NO DATA HAS BEEN MADE AVAILABLE for November 2005.
  • December and the end of the 4th year brought not only Christmas but 6 new presents (4 new ones)- GØVNE acting as Santa on these occasions.
  • The Happy New Year result was one contact per week for January 2006 (2 new ones).
  • February fill-dyke helped to fill the log of MØOIC who was i/c of the station - to the extent of a further 12 contacts (that's good considering the prevailing conditions) 4 of which were new ones.
  • As the station is not immune to the prevailing propagation conditions but two contacts only were made in March 2006 (both new ones).
  • No better conditions in April but doubtless the rarity value of GD3SIG sharpened ears to the extent of 10 new ones being entered into the log.
  • It was a case of "G3SIG 35 points" during the course of May.
  • Perhaps as well June had GM3SIG in cooler conditions than a G3SIG would have been - and MM5PSL at the helm managed 11 contacts of which 6 were new ones.
  • Having said that the heatwave and record temperatures of July produced yet another 11 contacts of which 4 were new this time - thanks to MØRRA for that.
  • August proved not to be the silly season for reporting - GW3KJW managed 21 contacts of which 13 were brand new for the peripatetic callsign.
  • Something of a mixture from the September activities: VE7VF operating as GD3SIG hooked 2 new ones, G4BYJ activating GI3SIG had 24 contacts of which 13 were new ones (and included a member who had never heard of the G3SIG Award), Sam G4OHX continued to the end of the month as G3SIG managing a duo before handing over to GI3SIG for October.
  • Something of the Blarney Stone Effect enabled the score to be raised by 6 contacts (4 new ones) during the October stint of GI3SIG.
  • GU3WHN, Mike, ran GU3SIG in November and although he started off like the proverbial bat out of hell, unfortunately he fell ill, had to go to hospital so things dropped off. Glad to say he is out of hospital now though.
As GU3SIG Mike made 28 QSOs in all, of which 20 were members and there were 8 new ones so he did well in the short time he was active {1-7 November}.
  • G3SIG was not very successful in December until 31st when Peter, GØRGB activated the call for just 2 hours on the "Pop in/Pop out" Net and had 48 QSOs of which 13 were new Members to the Award so very creditable.
  • MM5PSL's aerial farm succumbed to the excessive winds early in January - unfortunately therefore G3SIG has taken over for the remaining days of the month.
  • February fill dyke it may be but the contentrated efforts of Pat GW3KJW didn't fill log books - conditions and maybe a lack of activity to blame - so only 11 QSOs (of which 5 were new ones. Nevertheless the effort enabled one Member to complete his "set" to claim the Award - provided the QSLs arrive!
  • The combined effect of Spring in the Air and A Woman's Touch increased the total by another 10 (of which 7 were new ones) in March - Linda (2E1SIS) graced the bands with her presence sub nom G3SIG.
  • April didn't exactly bring us showers of QSL cards - there were but 2 contacts made during the month - GI3SIG managed two new contacts one of which was the G3SIG Award Manager himself whilst sojourning in CT.
  • G3SIG was activated during May by Ian, G8OFZ and he made 59 contacts of whom 8 were "new ones" including the G3SIG Manager himself (G4OHX) in Tobago! A very creditable performance.
  • With June a'coming in GI4JTF commanded GI3SIG for the round dozen all but one of which were "new ones".
  • July result was a mere brace - BUT...........as the operator of GU3SIG (on this occasion Chris GU3TUX) is blessed with only 5 watts "didn't he do well?"
Nothing ventured, nothing gained Chris is determined to try and get hold of some equipment that will allow him onto 7.165MHz and running an overwhelming 100 watts for his volunteer stint in November.
  • And so to August - the Principality attracted 8 more contacts of which 2 were new ones. Diolch yn fawr GW3RVG.
  • A SPECIAL SAFARI to activate GD3SIG on 20th September undertaken by Mike M1CCF resulted in 10 QSOs with members:
4 had worked GD before, 3 completed the requirements necessary to gain their G3SIG Award and 3 others who are thus one step further on the way to their Award.
The remainder of September harvested a further 13 QSOs of which 12 were new ones - in charge for this was GM3SIG.
  • Autumn draws on throughout October during which time GW3SIG (activated by 3KJW in the Principality) gathered in 8 new ones.
  • Winter doldrums ahead? November 2007 gloom produces only 5 QSOs including but one new one for GU3SIG in spite of the efforts of GU3TUX.
  • No great opportunities for Santa to hand out many Christmas presents - only two contacts were made from G3SIG during December 2007.
  • New Year festivities and a month's action produced "nul points".
  • February 2008 may have filled a few dykes and 4 log entries in GW (one of which was a new one).
  • March and its lion-like entrance ruined the antenna farm of MM5PSL so no contacts made by what would have been GM3SIG.
  • April 2008 the call was in the capable hands of GI3KVD who entered 6 contacts in the log, one of which was a new one.
  • Maytime, the jolly jolly Springtime and no less than 26 contacts by G3SIG, six of them being new ones - and the operator responsible for this upsurge - Ian G8OFZ.
  • Yes, June is busting out all over and even though conditions seem to most to be at their lowest-ever ebb "Persistence pays" as G2KK once said - and it paid for Don, GW3RVG to the extent of 19 contacts during the month as GW3SIG - and half a dozen of them were new ones.
  • And what of July? Full of promise, full of hope, and ending up with mixed results. GI3SIG (Harry GI4JTF) made 4 contacts, 2 of which were new ones and enabled one member to complete his set: GJ3SIG (by Andy G8JAC) operated for 3 days, made 7 contacts, 6 were new ones and included another one completing his ambition in regard to the G3SIG Award. Happy days!
  • Far from insignificant were the efforts of Linda, 2E1SIS whilst at the helm in August - 14 contacts, which included 8 new ones and an overall total now standing as shown below.
  • But.............cometh September and the rains....wet, wet, wet - and sadly the efforts of Arthur, G1KRU resulted in...........yes, a duck! As the G3SIG Award Manager said "You can lead them to water, but....." - so regrettably in spite of a month's effort by Arthur the overall score doesn't increase.
  • During the month of October some 22 members were channeling their efforts towards gaining the G3SIG Award - 4 were new ones and one succeeded in completing his set. GU3TUX was the medium.
  • Solo performance, and just one more contact achieved, that was the G3SIG that was for the month of November!
  • First news from the nomadic Award Manager (G3SIG) for the long-awaited Spring is that the home station gave 2 QSOs one of them being a "new one".
  • No Fool's Day in April - but it was First (and last and only) - a poor return for the noble efforts of the G3SIG operator this month but certainly not for lack of trying by him.
  • (a) Here's a nice tale: Roger G3YBO had a swift and short safari to the Isle of Man - activated GD3SIG, contacted 36 Members of which 13 claimed IoM as new ones for the Award and 2 Members completed their sets to enable them to claim their Award - a most excellent trip - given that it was only from 28 April to 3 May.

    (b) Ah! The merry, merry month of May having nearly passed - we are approaching the expected halcyon balmy days of June and the Award Manager's message for the period is "a big thank you to Bill, GM3KHH who activated GM3SIG from 4 - 31 May, is warranted. Thanks Bill!! Total RSARS QSOs 206 yes, 206. QSL cards in the post to Bryan total 60 which represent 58 "new ones" and 2 members completing their sets. Those contacts made with members who do not have stamps lodged with our wonderful QSL Bureau amount to 49, yes 49 - so no cards for them."

  • June was not exactly "bustin' out all over" but the Principality rang with "diolchiadau" for the efforts of GW3KJW who upped the score by four new ones
  • July was a case of "the morra the merrier" in that MØRRA raised the total by a further three: and two of those were "new".
  • GI3SIG's august attempts in the eponymous month produced, unfortunately, nothing!
  • "The lady's not for earning"- no, Linda, 2E1SIS, achieved a further 7 (5 of whom were new ones) during her entirely voluntary stint airing the call throughout September.
  • The early Autumn rustle of falling leaves enabled G3SIG to unearth 3 new ones from the Sherwood Forest area.
  • Nothing foggy about November - the way was clear ahead for GM3SIG to see a further 4 contacts in the GM3SIG log, one of which was a new one.
  • Christmas may come "but once a year" - unfortunately Santa was not over-generous with presenting G3SIG with only one new contact this month.
  • In spite of all the wishes for "A Happy New Year" for 2010 and the valiant and month-long sustained efforts of John MØRRA the score rose no higher than the temperature - zero throughout!
  • Maybe Spring fever is with us early as 2010 unfolds, or is it the improving conditions? G3SIG gave pleasure to no less than 32 Members during February of whom 9 were given one essential point towards the Award.
  • The march in March produced but one further contact.
  • And then came April and a magnificent 106 contacts by G8NWU - many of which were duplicates(ie with members who'd claimed the point for their Award previously) and some non-members showing interest - nevertheless 2 new ones were logged.
  • Another good almost vintage month was May 2010 - GW3SIG effected 62 contacts of which 21 were 'new ones'
  • June and the heat is on - MØRRA plugging away to capture another 4 - and all were new blood.
  • July and the drought - GI4JTF working all month and only 3 more drop onto the log.
  • Feverish activity throughout August by Kit GM4EMX produced a log of 7 entries one of which was a "new one" among claimants for the Award.
  • September and the leaves begin to fall and out come the logs ready for the Winter fires and also to add to their namesake 9 stations worked by GI3SIG of which 4 were new ones. The G3SIG Manager says "Well done David."
  • The bewitching month and and the allure of the feminine voice lured 8 members into the log and three quarters of them were "new ones". Thanks to Linda, 2E1SIS for this achievement.
  • The month of the foggy, foggy dew let MØRRA indulge in 3-card brag - for in spite of his persistent efforts that is the number of QSLs issued for successful players.
  • "all quiet and nothing was stirring" - not even the valiant efforts of GØVNE who foresook some of his festive activities trying could raise a squeak - so for December, sadly, no score.
  • Not surprisingly given the prevailing conditions, particularly on 80m and 40m, the duty operator of G3SIG ended up with a duck, so the overall total contacts remained at 2300 on the scoreboard to end of January 2011.
  • Ah, but in February - Wales scores again! Many tries and a score of 7 - a magnificent result.
  • March 2011 and a return to the active fold by John G4LRG who showed his prowess hadn't diminished by making 35 contacts of which 13 were "new" ones for the members.
  • No April foolery during these four weeks - with MØRRA at the controls another 8 contacts were listed of which half were "new" ones.
  • Maybe because I'm a Manxman - or not, but G7JWR acting as GD3SIG during part of May netted another 13 of which 5 were "new" ones and one member thus completed his set.
  • June heard GWØWEE in action and granting favour to 13 stations not all of whom, unfortunately, have stamps lodged with the RSARS QSL Bureau and the watchword is "No stamps = no QSL cards"
  • The magnetic personality of GI4JTF during July attracted no less than 26 member stations plus one other - and he was in Greenland. Members chose modes as follows: RTTY - 4, PSK - 1 and SSB - 21.
  • Unfortunately Sam G4OHX the G3SIG Award Manager since its inception died suddenly on 16th of August 2011. His funeral was held at the Gorleston Crematorium, Great Yarmouth on Friday 26th August. He never tired of his responsibilities and was always 100% correct in what he did. His memorial in the field of this Award is that 2376 contacts were made by members whilst he held the reins and as a result some 71 G3SIG Award Certificates were issued.

  • Following the unexpected death of G4OHX the position of G3SIG Award Manager was taken up by Bryan MØOIC who is already appreciated for his other positions within the Society.
  • Usually an august Summer month is August - but for the most part it was far from it weather-wise. Pat GW3KJW as this month's volunteer duty operator submitted his log which shows a man doing very well until cut off in his prime by the now well known sad event of 16 August 2011. He successfully handed GW3SIG F005 to 19 members plus 1 guest making 20 contacts in all - of which 8 members have had cards sent to them - 4 were RTTY, 1 CW and 3 SSB.
  • August 2011
    Award Manager's comments
: G3SIG has now moved base from Ormesby to Chilwell and it is now business as usual. 5 members have stepped onto the G3SIG award ladder for the first time. One member will soon be receiving his G3SIG Award certificate to bring the total to 72 and with others to follow - details of all recipients are shown in the table below.
And now a bit of envy! Harry's trawling around Greenland during his stint in July netted OX3DG (not an RSARS member) and I still require Greenland to be confirmed for my next IOTA claim.................

  • With the administrative detail consequent upon Sam's death having been completed GI3KVD took up the reins for a short while in September and GI3SIG operated for two days with David catching GWØWEE and GØIYC - both working GI3SIG for the first time on CW even though already worked SSB-wise..
  • As the autumn leaves began to fall the leaves of the G3SIG log began to be filled by Ian G8OFZ who managed to attract 18 members and one former member to the G3SIG flame. I would suggest/assume that the 19 working G3SIG would be happy to have F005 in their 50th Anniversary logs. However more important is the fact that two exchanges count towards the G3SIG Award. For information the two members adding another successful G3SIG contact to their award list were GWØVEM and GWØWEE so obviously the border into Wales was wide open and Ian took advantage of this. So: 19 worked in total including 2 new ones.
  • As the year draws to a close Mike GU3WHN when taking over G3SIG, said that he owed it to Sam G4OHX to do his best while operating GU3SIG. This he certainly did and he covered many of our nets, including PSK, RTTY and CW and has also taken up the mode of JT65-HF to hand out GU3SIG to our members in VK and ZL. He was also one of the few who managed to work Mal XU7AEU and get him in the GU3SIG log - maybe a first from Cambodia? Outside of the UK he also worked, in addition to XU7AEU, Alan VK6PG and Max ZL4VV.
The total number of stations worked was 64. Of these some 41 were RSARS members where full exchanges were completed and of these two members have now worked all areas and are eligible for the G3SIG Award Certificate and they are Peter MM5PSL 516 and David 2EØDAO 4025 so it is "well done" to Peter and David. In total 16 members worked GU3SIG for the first time bringing them ever closer to the coveted Certificate. A further 9 members, already with GU3SIG in their log, worked Mike in a different mode no doubt hoping to add to their CW, PSK, RTTY and JT65 lists.
As to other stations worked they include HF100MSC, a special event station being run in memory of Maria Curie. Another KE4MJ, Mike from Virginia is ex-US Navy. Other RSARS members were logged but exchanges not made and a few other stations from Europe also, so the holder of G3SIG will be wondering whether cards will arrive from non-members? They will of course be acknowledged.
Mike has done a great job and Sam would have been highly pleased with Mike's effort, as am I. He has helped two of our members obtain their G3SIG Award Certificate and taking a further 14 one step closer to theirs. Both G4LRG and GWØWEE who worked GU3SIG require only GM3SIG and with Nick MMØNJC volunteering for duty during the month of January 2012 they will not have long to wait for the opportunity..
  • And to end the year (2011) on a really high note: two members shared the G3SIG stint for the month and made between them 49 contacts, no less than 47 of which were a record-breaking achievement - by GØRGB - during a one hour operating period within the New Year Pop-in-Pop-out Net.
  • The TOTAL number of contacts now stands at 2537

All outgoing cards have been despatched by the G3SIG Station Manager who asks you to note, please, QSL CARDS ARE NOT REQUIRED FROM STATIONS WORKED, thank you.
