SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS |
GB2AFG - (Armed Forces Guernsey). 18th - 26th June 2011
Mike, GU3WHN tells us "The call sign has been granted the
RSARS number F313 and I will endeavour to come on as many bands and modes as
my time permits. CW will be at a boring 15 or so words per minute but I
will, as always, do my best. Rag chewing may not be an option."
He adds: "Any suggestions for bands and timings will be given
serious consideration.

5X1NH
"Returning to Uganda on 20 February and returning on 15 April. Hope to work a few more members than my last trip! Please look on the usual RSARS QRGs (start with CW) - you may also find me up 11 or up 25 from the bottom edge of a band. I will have a small linear which may improve SSB opportunities - although taken specifically for the low bands. If you have worked me as member 293 here is your chance to get an affiliated number point - or just a welcome chat!" 73 and HOPE TO WORK YOU - Nick G3RWF

F/G3PNF I am going across to St.Valery sur Somme again this year.
I will be operating from 20th May to 9th June. Usual 20/40/80 metre RSARS frequencies plus or minus.
I will be on CW mostly, but SSB during net times, 3Khz off the net frequencies. The Net Controllers will be advised when I am able to hear stations. I will have my RSARS number 85, also F291 with the N2DAN Key Award to end of May.
Because of my frequent visits to France I have also been allowed a new F number for this trip.

XV2LC and XV4LC

Mal, VK6LC is going back to Vietnam for another holiday. This time he is not taking any amateur radio equipment but intends to use friends’
gear. This reduces the weight for travelling and hence the lower cost.
The proposed schedule is:
9th April through 14th April at Ho Chi Minh City operating XV2LC mainly SSB with occasional CW depending upon band conditions.
22nd through 23 April from Cu-Chi operating XV2LC again mostly SSB.
16th, 17th and 18th April from Can-Tho in the Mekong Delta running XV4LC with basic 100-watt station.
None of the stations in Vietnam have CW filters so it will be difficult for Mal to pull out any weak DX stations amongst the Asian QRM.
Mal says that XV4LC is in particular demand and he asks that members seeking his new XV4LC call/location for RSARS Awards are requested to book skeds/times/bands to maximise the time available.
He will try to keep a "wanted list" of members who are serious about skeds etc.
Please spread the word around the UK and let me know who wants what and when BEFORE Mal flies out to Vietnam.
Mal himelf has a new email address and hopes to gain email access whilst in Vietnam, but this is not firmly predictable unless he can gain access to an email café. Hence, try to use me as the access point to help Mal.
Here is a great chance for all active members to sharpen skills/pencils before the May Anniversary activity gets under way. Remember that Mal does not use any QSL bureau and asks for cards direct
plus a tiny donation for postage. Not a big ask especially for one of his magnificent silk hand-made Vietnamese cards.
Mal says he will be back in Perth before the start of the May
Anniversary Contest.
Any messages for Mal can be set via me as needed before, during and
after Mal's holiday.
Good luck everyone :-)
