G3LPC Some of you may remember G3LPC which was the Royal Signals Club Station at Bampton in the 1960's. We earned our laurels back then by being a big light in RTTY (the hard way!).
I held this licence on behalf of the Club which was also well-known for a week-long stay on Lundy Island as GB3LPC.
I can now announce that together with Roger, GØAOZ and Chris G1YGY, I have resurrected the Club within 200 yards of the old site. OFCOM have been exceptionally helpful in re-issuing the call to me and the station will be known as WEALD AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY (WARS).
We are already up and running on Packet and connected to the network via GB7BA which I also run for HARWELL AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY (HARS).
We have started work getting wire into the sky by fixing a pulley and rope at the top of our 114ft high tower. We have an FT857 as the main rig with an FT2100 linear. Currently the antenna in use is 60 odd feet of wire just dropped from the tower to the fibre glass 9ft x 7ft shack. The whole is enclosed in an 8ft high chain fence topped with barbed wire.
So here we go folks..I have to find out if the Club ever had an Affiliated number... I don't think it had, so if you contact us you'll have to be satisfied with mine (G3LQC) until we sort that out..........

5X1NH once again 25th June 2008 for two whole months! Nick (G3RWF) tells us: "I am returning to Uganda! Same arrangements as previously and will again be in Fort Portal in the extreme west of the country. I hope to work some more members - fewer no doubt in August when my wife is joining me and we are going to do some sightseeing."
LATEST INFORMATION - 23 JUNE 2008
"Expect to be QRV on Thursday 26th June probably.
Please try to work me - there doesn't seem to be a big RSARS response these days - I have worked literally hundreds of G's (and quite a few VK's) from 5X so there is plenty of room for some more RSARS members! Look especially on 14056 and 18085 (and if condx are good I will plug in the mic and go to SSB freq). Also worth a look on 10123 - expect to work a lot of stations on 30m"
