WAR & PEACE SHOW
Once again we had our stand at The Hop Farm, War and Peace Show, Beltring Nr. Paddock Wood in Kent. A number of former Royal Signals personnel came up and had a chat, and it was good to see them - mostly linies as it happens - I wonder why?

The Stand was fronted by three Austin Champs and a Landrover Defender - all fitted with appropriate operational radio whilst alongside we managed to provide a picnic area for members, their families and friends, almost under the high flying RSARS flag.

This year we had the special call GB4WP and this was aired by the one member who was persuaded to operate for us - surely there must be others in the area? Yes, we had problems with kit that worked when packed away from the previous show but didn't when upacked this time! (The Christmas lights syndrome). The folded dipole decided to go OC and the SG2000 decided to go base up, if you understand! At one point contacts were being made in Italy by using the adjoining tuned length of fencing. Despite all this, contacts with RSARS members were made and were appreciated, but we could have done better with more assistance. QSL cards will come!

The variety of military vehicles on display is truly breathtaking, have you seen a Toad or a BARV? Well we have at Beltring, now. The Battle of Britain flight came over and saluted the Royal Signals flag - well if you don't believe it study the photographs below.

But I was investigating this flag

Battle of Britain flight confirming it's RSARS

Memory Lane - Ever used one of these?

(A keen collector paid £200 for it)

It is the 18/38 Set hand generator from WW2

A Sherman BARV

And of course a Toad

Yes, we're in there somewhere

3 Champs, a Landrover Defender
and much radio gear

When not having our picnic that is!
